We also have an important call to action from our friends at Climate Action Campaign and others. Details are below, right above your protest schedule for the week. This action can be done remotely or in person on Tuesday at the Irvine city council meeting.
CALL TO ACTION: Contact the Irvine City Council on three important topics
Urge city councilmembers to:
Rescind the City of Irvine's notice of intent to withdraw from OCPA
Oppose MAGA Mike Carroll’s resolution against Prop 50
Vote yes on the Special Agenda to join amicus brief against ICE abuses
Here’s what you can do:
Step 1. CALL AND EMAIL THE IRVINE CITY COUNCIL before 12pm noon on Tuesday 9/9.
For the OCPA item, use the Climate Action Campaign calling tool to contact at least one of three key councilmembers: Betty Martinez-Franco (D5), William Go (D2), and James Mai (D3) to support rescinding the withdrawal notice. You do not need to live in their districts.
Email the full council with the Climate Action Campaign emailing tool - feel free to customize with a message that comes from the heart!
Step 2. GIVE PUBLIC COMMENT on Tuesday, September 9th @ 5:00 pm.
For the OCPA item, you can use the Climate Action Campaign talking points template to provide public comment next Tuesday. We need to show as much community support as possible for clean energy choice in Irvine.
You do not need to live in an Irvine council district to make your voice heard - the climate and all these issues belong to all of us.
