Weekend Update! NO KINGS IN ORANGE COUNTY
What to know about this Saturday October 18th
Dear neighbors,
REMINDER: The next national day of action is THIS SATURDAY, October 18th. We’re co-hosting the next No Kings Orange County rally at Centennial Park in Santa Ana with our partners OC Indivisible Coalition and WAVE, and you are not going to want to miss this historic moment as the entire nation joins in a day of protest against the illegitimate Trump regime.
Here are the details (or check out this video to learn more):
Time & Location: Saturday, October 18th, 2-5pm, Centennial Park (3000 W Edinger Ave, Santa Ana)
We will be hosting a food and essentials drive to support our neighbors in need across Orange County, including those who have been affected by immigration raids. Bring unexpired perishables and anything you think a household may need for daily life! (Click here for a list of suggested items.)
You can bring water & snacks to share with fellow protesters. If you have the budget and can help out, please bring some with you to give out. Bonus points if you have a wagon and can help with distribution to the crowd!
Did you vote in the Prop 50 special election yet? Bring your ballot and drop it off at the drop box located near the park.
Tons of community organizations will be hosting booths at the protest with action items for you to join them in helping build the world we want to see.
DJs and musicians will be keeping the energy high, in addition to inspiring speeches and calls to action from organizers and community leaders.
Please donate a few dollars if you can to help cover the costs of organizing, including permitting, insurance, portable toilets, sound systems, stages, and supplies. Right now it’s all coming out of unpaid volunteer pockets. Any excess donations will go towards red cards and mutual aid.
If you’d like to volunteer your time, we have lots of low-pressure ways to participate. Just email us at 50501oc@proton.me with the subject line “Volunteer 10/18” to get started!
Parking! First, try to carpool or rideshare if you can. There are tons of free parking lots around Centennial Park, but the parking structure on the south end of the park is reserved for our event. If everything in the park fills up, there are also some commercial lots around the area, but double check signage to make sure you won’t get towed.
Can’t make it to Santa Ana on Saturday? Check out all the additional Orange County locations at nokings.org.
Sunday 10/19: “Rally Unplugged” at the Weekly Rally for Democracy
This Sunday October 19th, join OC Indivisible Coalition & 50501 Orange County at Irvine City Hall from 2-4pm for our weekly Rally for Democracy! Because of our big day on the 18th, Sunday’s rally will be a scaled back version of what we normally do. Expect crossing guards and music, but no speaking program.
